McGlynn: "Well earned draw"

15.12.2012

John McGlynn praised his side for twice getting in front against St Johnstone today and conceded that a draw was a fair result.

The Jambos took the lead on two occasions but were both time pegged back by a determined Saints side.

Speaking to the media after the game, John said: "It was a very well earned, hard earned, point. It was a great start for us to get in front and it was good to see John Sutton get a goal.

"Unfortunately for us the lead didn't last very long at all which is disappointing. But we got ourselves back in it with a good flick on and Andrew Driver was at the back post.

"We weren't in total control as I think St Johnstone put a lot of effort inand they were dangerous today so I've got to thank Jamie Macdonald for two or three really good saves."

John felt he couldn't have many complaints about the home side's second equaliser.

"Coaches and managers are always mumping and moaning about the goals we lose," he said. "But to be fair it was a well-executed goal."

Darren Barr had to go off injured at half time and John revealed he wasn't the only walking wounded in a maroon shirt today.

"We dug in," he stated. "Losing Darren Barr at half time was a bit of a blow. Andy Webster has a virus and the doctor didn't think he'd last 90 minutes so I had to be careful with the substitutions. So that's a testament to him that he came through it.

"We put on two positive subs to try and win the game, in Dale Carrick and Arvydas Novikovas, but we had to wait to make them to see if Andy would make the full 90 minutes.

"But we've not had a great record here. So a point in Perth isn't the worst really."
