Festive delight for Dylan

26.12.2012

Dylan McGowan is expecting a tough test at Rugby Park on Boxing Day, but he's sure the Jambos can emerge victorious.

Hearts travel to Ayrshire to face Kilmarnock on Wednesday and the younger McGowan brother is confident that John McGlynn's men can continue their impressive run of form.

Dylan said: "They've been good this season, they've got a great striker in Cillian Sheridan who has been scoring them goals. So obviously they're a threat but I think on paper we're a match for anyone.

"If we turn up and play in the right frame of mind I'm sure we can get the three points."

Sunday's win against Dundee Utd saw Dylan reinstated to the first team after a spell on the sidelines through injury, something that he's keen to avoid a repeat off.

"I need to keep on top of it," he said. "It's a stomach tear and easy to play through, though it's not 100% better yet."

Christmas this year has proven to be a real family affair for Dylan and co as his mum and cousin have flown over from Australia.

"My mum's over here now so she's cooked Ryan and I dinner," he revealed. "In Australia the family come round and we usually take the tables and chairs and sit outdoors, which is much better than here, I think, as everyone's crammed into a living room!

"Obviously the weather's not great here but we didn't come here for the weather, we came here for the football. Days like Sunday when Tynecastle was packed and bouncing, that's what we came here to do.

"Come January I'll have been here five years, so I've been here a long time. I've been out on loan and back home so it's been broken up a little bit but it's starting to feel like home now. Tynecastle and Hearts as a club is now home."

Finally, when asked by a journalist if turkey is the traditional Christmas dinner dish down under, Dylan replied: "Yeah we eat all that. We're not from the moon, we're just from Australia!"
