Ex-Hearts forward Calum Elliot set for pre-season with Houston Dynamo

STV 21 January 2013 14:12 GMT

Former Hearts striker Calum Elliot will train with MLS side Houston Dynamo as he bids to find a new club.

The 25-year-old has left Lithuanian club Zalgiris Vilnius after a year in the A-Lyga and will head for the USA for pre-season training.

He scored 17 goals in 39 appearances for Zalgiris.

The potential move to Major League Soccer was reported by Houston Chronicle reporter Jesus Ortiz.

Elliot earned caps for Scotland at under-20 and under-21 level while coming through the ranks at Hearts and broke into the first team at Tynecastle in 2005.

He netted 13 goals in over 100 appearances for Hearts, in between loan spells with Motherwell, Livingston and Dundee.

Houston are managed by Glasgow-born Dominic Kinnear and are owned by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya.

Their roster includes former US international striker Brian Ching, fellow Scot and ex-Elgin City midfielder Adam Moffat and the former Derby County star Giles Barnes.
