Gary Locke only wants to boss Hearts

Published on 27/05/2013 12:00

GARY LOCKE insisted today he doesn’t want to manage any other club despite the trials and tribulations of life at Hearts.

The manager stressed that everyone at Tynecastle will stick together no matter what the next few weeks bring, with Hearts threatened by the collapse of parent company Ukio Bankas Investment Group.

Locke replaced John McGlynn as manager in March, but has had to deal with off-the-field issues surrounding the club’s future ever since. Despite threats like administration, a points deduction and a transfer embargo looming over the Jambos, the 37-year-old is adamant everyone will pull together in the face of adversity.

“It’s certainly been an eye opener but that’s why I took the job. I wouldn’t like to be manager of any other club,” said Locke, who has supported Hearts all his life. “This club means a lot to me and we’re going through some difficult times. Being a Hearts man
myself, I know we’ll come out the other side of it no problem.

“The players are all pulling for the jersey week in and week out and that’s all I can ask for. Their effort has been tremendous. We’ll all stand shoulder to shoulder – everyone at the club and everyone away from the club. If we all stick together, we’ll be okay.”
