Kyle: let me help
Striker prepared to return to Tynecastle

RONNIE MacKAY

KEVIN KYLE has revealed he would go back to Tynecastle in a heartbeat.

The big striker is ready to help Jambos boss and pal Gary Locke if he struggles to get players into the stricken Gorgie club.

Kyle is currently without a club after leaving Rangers as he recovers from an ankle injury.

But he is on the road back to fitness and would love to help out his former club if required.

The former Scotland star, who has been doing his B licence at the SFA’s coaching course in Largs, said: “It is a shame because Hearts have got the potential and even clubs in England would love to get the support they do.

“When Gary Locke got the job at the end of last season I texted to congratulate him.

“I told him I would offer my services if he was looking for someone cheap and cheerful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

“If Hearts are still going next season I will phone Lockey and ask if I can go back.

“I spent a great time at the club and the fans were great to me in my two years there.

“It is just really sad. I can’t believe they’ve signed Danny Wilson one week and put him up for sale the next.

“It is strange but the good thing is, if they can keep themselves going they have got some cracking players.

“They are worth a few quid and they might get someone coming in for the likes of Jamie Walker, who is different class.

“They have got assets they could move on but you want to keep your best young players.

“I hope and pray that they get it sorted one way or another.

“Even if they end up in the Third Division like Rangers did, the only thing that really matters is that there is still a Heart of Midlothian Football Club.”

Kyle is almost fit again after a nightmare ankle injury.

That has led to some people thinking he had been forced to hang up his boots — but he insists he still has a lot to offer.

He revealed: “Bad decisions were made on what was best for my ankle — it has been an absolute disaster from the word go.

“It is a six-week injury which has taken six months.

“I think there is a misconception that I have retired.

“But I haven’t got a serious injury, it is just a niggly thing which has dragged on after not being dealt with properly.

“The last three years have not been kind to me injury-wise, but when I have played I have done well.

“I am a striker and a target man. I am asked to do a specific job and I believe I can still do that job.

“Hopefully somebody, somewhere will get a good deal because I won’t cost the earth.

“All I want is an opportunity to play football and do what I can do best.”
