Winger aids Hearts with boot auction

Staff writer
Monday 24 June 2013

David Templeton, the Rangers winger, offered his support to former club Hearts over the weekend after auctioning off the boots he was wearing when he scored against Liverpool at Anfield in the second leg of a play-off round Europa League tie last August.

The goal is still remembered fondly by Hearts suppporters, with the match ending 1-1.

Templeton, who would finalise a move to Ibrox just days later, has also stated via his Twitter page that he will deliver the footwear to the winner personally, with the money raised intended to help the Tynecastle club make it through administration. It follows a similar pledge made by former Hearts player Ryan McGowan, who announced his plan to buy one season ticket for every thousand that Hearts sell.

Templeton wrote: "Going to auction my boots to help raise money for Hearts, the club that gave me my chance. Highest bidders win."
