Pre-season success

Gary Locke is a satisfied man after the Jambos rounded off pre-season with a hard fought match against Liverpool.

Despite controlling the first half, it was the young Anfield side who came away 1-0 winners but that hasn't stopped the gaffer from declaring the Belfast trip a success.

Speaking to Hearts News after the game, Gary said: "It was a great exercise. The first half I thought we did really well. There's a lot of positives, we were really well organised, kept our shape well and created a few chances.

"I think Liverpool have only really had on chance in the game and they've taken it. So it's important that if we do get chances that we take them. If we do that then we'll not be far away.

"It's been great, I've really enjoyed it. The people have been fantastic and the pre-season plans have, for me, been really, really good. We've finished with two decent games and we can now look forward to the league campaign."
