Teams selected to play in the start of season Charity Games played on the first Saturday in August.
The first game with the team called 'Edinburgh Select' played Aston Villa in 1944.
When the games stopped being played in 1963 reference was made to the series of games being played since 1941.
Therefore included are
1941 - Hearts 0 Arsenal 1 played for City of Edinburgh Cup
1942 - Hibs 1 RAF XI 3
1943 - Hearts XI 3 RAF XI 2

Edinburgh XIs - Adhoc
Teams made up of players from two or more Edinburgh Clubs. Typically for player testimonials or 'one off' causes.
Though some oddities
1878 - Hibs played an Edinburgh XI under electric light. The engine broke down and the proposed game vs Hearts the following night was cancelled.
1912 - Rosebery Charity Cup Final Hibs v Rest of Edinburgh Hibs winning 7-4 on corners. Hearts had qualified for the Final but were on tour in Scandanavia.
