Bednar: No players' revolt

Vasek Kadlec

Roman Bednar has denied reports of a players' revolt at Hearts, but has demanded an end to the strife engulfing the club.

Majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov's remarkable claim recently that he would dispense with many of The Jambos' current playing squad should results not improve, led to speculation of an impending rift.

The Czech striker is adamant that talk of a revolt being instigated by the players is wide of the mark.

But Bednar admits the upheaval is a major strain on the players at Tynecastle, and is desperate for a quick resolution.

"There has been no revolt against Mr Romanov," said Bednar.

"But strange things happen here. Since the time the new owners took over the club, a lot of things have happened.

"The situation over the last three weeks has been unbearable.

"Captain Steven Pressley, together with Paul Hartley and Craig Gordon have released a statement to the club management in which the players point out things that we think are not okay.

"Of course we are only players and our job is to do our best on the pitch.

"But we also have the club's best interests at heart, and you cannot concentrate on football in such an oppressive atmosphere - it is really too much.

"Now the only thing we can do is wait and see what happens. But one way or another, it must be resolved."
