Yogi bears up well after controversial end to game

ALAN FAIRLEY

WHILE the controversy raged on Saturday evening with regard to Darren Barr's last-minute red card for supposedly head-butting Hearts' Andrius Velicka, Falkirk manager John Hughes took time to reflect on what he felt was a very pleasing performance from his team.

"I thought my players were magnificent," said Yogi. "Perhaps we rode our luck a bit in the first half but, after the interval, I felt we were dominant and the Hearts players know that they've been in a game. After they scored they seemed to sit back on their lead and we had a real go. We need to be a little more balanced in our play. Our lads have a great spirit but perhaps some of them need to believe in themselves a bit more, although that's something that couldn't be said about Patrick Cregg - he reckons he's the best player in the world!

We lost a bad goal today and that cost us the game but the outcome could have been different had Vitor Lima's header gone in instead of coming back off the post."
