1000 mark hit

Hearts boss Gary Locke has praised fans after they snapped up 1000 season tickets in just three days.

The response from the Gorgie faithful following administrators BDO's plea for their backing on Thursday afternoon has been tremendous.

The Ticket Centre opened yesterday for four hours to cope with the expected demand and brisk business saw the 1000 mark reached, much to the gaffer's delight.

"It's testimony to the supporters' feeling for this famous football club," said Gary, who was at Tynecastle yesterday to thank some of the fans in person.

"To have sold 1000 season tickets in such a short space of time is fantastic. The administrators have said we need to sell 3000 so there is a long way to go but this is a great start. The fans need to keep the momentum going and hopefully we can come through this extremely difficult period."
