NACHO NOVO, saint or sinner? It all depends on who you support after yesterday's win for Rangers at Tynecastle.

The Spaniard scored the goal that won the game and had another kick that sparked controversy.

Mark Paterson, Edinburgh, said: "Why was Novo allowed to stay on the park after deliberately kicking a Hearts player? He shouldn't have been on the park, never mind finish the game as the scorer of the winning goal."

Colin Ewing, Bonnyrigg, said: "Vladimir Romanov might not get much right any more but he's got a point about Scottish referees. Showing a yellow card to a player who deliberately kicks another one isn't adequate punishment."

Gerry Duffy, Bellshill, said: "What does it take for Dougie McDonald to send somebody off?"

Willie Morton, Paisley, said: "Novo's goals have given me fresh hope. I'm giving up nothing where the title race is concerned."

Bobby Jamieson, Largs, said: "It might not have been much of a game at Tynecastle but Rangers hung in there and that hasn't always been the case this season."

Mary Stewart, Renfrew, said: "I don't understand what's going on at Rangers. Why are we after two midfield players, Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson, from Hibs, when what we need is a central defender from Hearts, Steven Pressley?"

One half of Edinburgh is in revolt. The other half is delirious.

Pat McCormack, Edinburgh, said: "Hibs are above Hearts in the league table, when was that last the case? John Collins and Tommy Craig have made their mark early on in their managerial partnership."

Kenny Roberts, Leith, said: "The display at Fir Park on Saturday was wonderful. Above Hearts in the league after putting them out of the CIS Cup as well. This is as good as it gets."

Dave McKerlie, Glasgow, said: "I'm fed up with fans saying their team can't get a penalty at Celtic Park. Celtic can't get a penalty there either. Kenny Clark turned down two stone-wallers on Saturday."

Michael McGovern, Renton, said' "I'm not sure about Artur Boruc against Manchester United. He doesn't look the bravest to me when there's a crossball to be fought for."

Simon Crossan, Irvine, said: "Good luck to Celtic against United but Sir Alex Ferguson's side looked awesome against Sheffield United."

Michael Monaghan, Clydebank, said: "I hope Kenny Miller stages a recovery in time for the United game. How much was his energy missed against Caley Thistle?

Now for UEFA and whingeing Frenchmen, Willie Cook, Kilsyth, said: "I'm flabbergasted by UEFA's decision to reprimand the SFA because the ballboys were too slow on the day Scotland beat France.
