Can Kingston Be New Hearts Hero?Laryea Kingston made his debut for Hearts in last weekend's cup exit at Dunfermline, but despite the result he does appear to a decent player. In our match report for the Pars match, I mentioned that it was difficult to tell which position would be Kingston's best as he showed as much composure on the ball as he did willingness to put the boot in. My hunch is that he's more defensive minded than offensive though. Having trawled through a few websites looking for opinions on this player, it would appear that he's a bit of a cult hero in his homeland of Ghana. A couple of messageboards in particular had comments from many supporters full of praise for Kingston, some of which were of the opinion that he is a better player than the decorated Michael Essien, who of course plays for Chelsea. Of course, these opinions are just that, opinions. And we all know just how variable two people's views can be on the same thing in a sport like football! So while we certainly won't be getting carried away with acclaim for Kingston made by fans of Ghana and his previous clubs, I think we can afford ourselves the luxury of some cautious optimism over this signing. Let's face it, we don't have an awful lot else to look forward to at the moment, so let's look for something positive wherever we possibly can! ![]() Taken from the Scotsman |
